I talk to many people who dream about building a successful business. Yet that dream usually remains just a dream. Why? Because perfectionism, procrastination, overthinking and fear of failure get in the way.

There are of course many moving parts to building a successful business. In my opinion though, here's the #1 ingredient for success:

The ability to tolerate the discomfort of uncertainty.

It means being OK with not knowing what's going to happen.

Whatever action you take in your business, you can never be certain what will happen. No-one can guarantee anything.

Perfectionism, procrastination, overthinking and fear of failure are all rooted in the inability to tolerate the discomfort of uncertainty.

Will people like my post? Have I nailed the right niche? Will people take me up on my offer? What happens if I say the wrong thing? Will I lose money with my Facebook ads? What will my family think? Which social media works best for me? What happens if I mess up my sales call?...

Of course, it's normal to feel a certain level of discomfort with uncertainty. But unless you're aware of it and manage it, it can become paralysing. When doing nothing feels safer, you'll end up staying where you are and yet feeling dissatisfied and unfulfilled.

So what to do?

Take small courageous action to increase your ability to tolerate uncertainty.

It will feel scary, and that's the whole point.

I can help make things feel safer so you can take courageous action more easily. Book a free consult here.
